YOU ARE THE SALT AND LIGHT OF THE WORLD MATTHEW 5:23-16

THEME: YOU ARE THE SALT AND LIGHT OF THE WORLD

MATTHEW 5:13-16

You are the salt of the earth: but if the salt loses its flavor, how shall it be seasoned? It is then good for nothing but to be thrown out and trampled underfoot by men. You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your father in heaven. Amen

When you lose your strength and quality as a Christian, it means all is not well with you. People will misbehave towards you.

It means your prayer life is weak, you don’t meditate on the word, and you follow the teachings of the world than following his word.

It means your connection with God is weak as a believer of Christ.

When you are no more salt men will walk upon you because you lose/lost your flavor and you will be tasteless. It means you lost the presence of God. His indwelling spirit is not with you.

In all these, Jesus is saying you are the light of the world and you will shine everywhere you go.

Light always expose the truth or what is hidden. As a believer, you are supposed to shine in all aspect of life i.e. in your business, marriage, finances, education, profession etc.

As lights, wherever you get to people must see the truth in you because Jesus is the truth. People must identify you as a son of God because you are extraordinary.

When your light is shining people will see

  1. Your moral excellence
  2. Your Praise worthiness
  3. How noble you are
  4. Your good deeds

Then people will recognize, honour, praise and glorify your father who is in heaven.

As a light, you are outstanding

As a light, people must see the glory of God in you and turn from their bad ways to Christ.

PRAYER

  1. Lord make me shine everywhere I go.
  2. Lord make me steadfast in your grace without losing your flavour.

Bible verse is from the King James Version
